April 15, 2022- Delivery of the Water Storage Container

"I spoke with Madina while I left the engineer to do his work and she is so happy...
she says that God has redeemed her name in the village. They used to call her unlucky and poor but that ever since the tank arrived, she says she is now the talk of the town. She said that the morning after the tank was installed, there was a line of people at her house waiting to buy water. She hasn't sold a single drop because she was waiting for national water, so i asked her to start selling immediately. She says thank you so much. She says that her and the family feel like they are in a dream."

Oct 29, 2022 - hooking up to the national water system

Good morning from Uganda.
I now have a complete update for the Nantezas.
Digging by national water started in September and it was only until last week that they were able to receive the water meter. They are now officially on the grid and the last adjustment we made was to connect the water tank to the grid so they have a reservoir for the days when there is water-shedding. Shafic, our contact had left school briefly to get some money for his school fees and so he passed by their home to supervise the last bit. He says that he saw Madina crying in complete disbelief that she finally had water connected to her premises.
The thing is that sometimes help in Africa comes at a cost, many people have falled victims to scams or extortion. Promises are made to get your family help only if you're willing to part with some money in exchange for the possibility of getting that help. So when an individual realizes that they are getting help with no strings attached, it is so overwhelming in addition to the fact that a problem in their life has been solved.
I know that sitting far from them robs you of the chance to witness what your help is doing but i need you to remember, on behelf of these families, that we are grateful for your unconditional giving.

The Nantezas have successfully hooked up their well to the national water line. They are selling their water and living off of the profits. The Sharing Well continues to pay for two of the children to attend school and this will be continuing indefinitely. One of the children did not pass their recent grade so The Sharing Well is paying for private tutoring every month so he can get the grades that he needs.

Madina Nanteza sells vegetables in front of her home to bring in some money for her family. She also started to rear chicken and currently has about five birds. Even though she does not have as many customers to buy water, she still gets a bit of income from the sale of water. Madina lives with her daughter and grandchildren.
Alaiysa Natabya washes clothes in the neighbourhood for a fee and that is how she brings a little money home. Thankfully also, the water that we connected to their home makes it even easier for her to continue to do so.
Mohammed Ssentogo and Akram Mubiru are sons from Alaiysa’s previous relationship and were both enrolled in the same school. Because Mohammed was not doing well in school, we were paying for extra classes to help them catch up with school with a teacher from a different school.
